The 25th of Shawwal marks the martyrdom of Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq, the 6th Shia Imam. He was the founder of Ja'fari jurisprudence and one of the greatest Islamic scholars.
Imam al-Sadiq was martyred in 148 AH in Medina. He had over 4,000 students in various fields of knowledge.
